The St. Geneve Cotton Eiderdown Pillow is made with a 360 Threadcount 100% long staple Egyptian Cotton, woven in Germany especially for Eiderdown. At 2.2 ounces per square yard, this is the lightest and softest down proof fabric in the world. Hand sewn with a special "sealed edge" construction.

The Silk Eiderdown Pillow is made with a 450 Thread count 100% silk, also woven in Germany especially for Eiderdown. This silk weighs 3.2 ounces per square yard, with a luxurious drape and softness unequaled by any other down proof silk, or any other fabric for that matter. Hand sewn with a special "sealed edge " construction.

Eiderdown is the softest and lightest down in the world. It is extremely rare, in great demand and highly prized (accounting for it's high price). This eiderdown is certified at 99.9% purity and is never blended with any other type of down.

Our eiderdown is gathered by hand from the nests of the Eider Duck in special sanctuaries that are maintained by farmers in Iceland. This special relationship between farmers and the eider duck insures that the birds are never harmed; the down is only collected after they are finished nesting and have continued on their annual migration. The sanctuaries that the farmers provide also insures that these birds are safe from poaching - a real concern given the value of eiderdown today.

The finest eiderdown tests at approximately 700 fill power. Yet, due to the very tiny "hooks" in the eiderdown cluster it has a phenomenal density and cling and insulates at an amazing 850 to 900 fill power. If you were to hold a small amount of eiderdown in the palm of your hand you would feel no weight, just a soft growing warmth. Really quite an amazing sensation.

Eiderdown has a very wide "comfort range", far superior to any other down, keeping you cooler when the temperature is warm and warmer when the temperature is cold.

• Soft: If you sleep on your stomach.
• Medium: If you sleep on your back.
• Firm: If you sleep on your side

Eiderdown pillows are most suitable for those who desire a very soft, yet responsive pillow. "Firm" is not a term we could ever use to describe eiderdown, so the above descriptions are relative.

Always use a good quality pillow protector. Although the pillows are machine washable, eiderdown should not be washed too often. Using a pillow protector and washing it frequently will help extend the life of your pillow(s).
